10+ Things You Should Know About Our Refillery

What is a refillery? We want to help you answer that question and more!

A refillery is a store where you can refill soaps, cleaners, and other household products in reusable containers to help you reduce waste that is often generated by conventional products and packaging… but we’re more than that! Our goal is to improve sustainability in the Knoxville area by offering a low waste shopping alternative and providing a space for zero-judgement sustainability community and education. 

Whether you’ve shopped with us before or this is your first time hearing about us, we want to be sure you know these 10+ things about our zero waste refillery in South Knoxville. 

1. Our refillery was born out of research and founded by an expert in sustainable waste management – AKA Dr. Fill (Dr. Michaela Barnett, or @SustainableMichaela on Instagram). Read more about Our Story.
   
    

2. We have specialty recycling in the back of our store – for oral care, beauty products, corks, razors, batteries, and tennis shoes. Find our recycling guidelines here. 
   
   
   

3. We support dozens of small businesses, including over 30 TN businesses in 2024. We’re always working to update our Makers & Suppliers page, but feel free to take a look here!
   
   
   

4. We have a locally curated vintage clothing rack by Past Around Vintage and a secondhand clothing rack from employees.
   
    

5. We send our containers back to suppliers to clean and refill, and they send them back to us and other refilleries across the country – so our supply chain is circular and zero waste!
   
   
   

6. Several members of our team are makers, and you can find their homemade goods in the shop.
   
   
   

7. We have a lot more than soap refills – including organic spices and teas and locally roasted coffees. 
   
   
   

8. We serve local Frog Juice Kombucha on tap for in-store sipping (pay by the ounce) or growler refilling. The flavor we usually carry is their delicious Peach Lavender kombucha. 
   
   
   

9. We have a community library with environmental-focused books and children’s books. You can take one or leave one – it’s all honor system. 
   
   
   

10. Our manager, Carly, is an esthetician who curates our clean skincare products.
